Hello! I am a Ph.D. candidate in marketing at the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University.Â
My research investigates the psychological underpinnings of consumer behavior in financial decision-making and social identity-based consumption. I explore how seemingly mundane aspects of transactions, such as payment modality, can significantly influence spending habits as payment methods rapidly evolve. I also examine the complex social signals conveyed through consumption choices, particularly how the nature of different social identities influences how these signals are interpreted and valued by others, including members of one's own social groups. I use lab and field experiments to study these phenomena and have presented my research at ACR, SCP, and Winter AMA.
Prior to beginning my Ph.D., I worked at the ASU international student office for more than five years, developing marketing communications and organizing events to support student engagement. I earned my bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature from Northwest University in China and my master's degree in Intercultural Communication from the University of Pennsylvania.
